  Karistan 30-50% web site sale yeilded a 30 cent change in price per sq ft. Our 12x15 bedroom costed $1500. The installation went bandly--they used a measurement of "net 12" and came up about an inch short in the doorway and found the carpet wouldn't stretch much. They said normally carpets stretched more, this had been stretched to its limit, etc. Anyways, during the installation they pulled into the bedroom our hall carpet (without my permission, and without mentioning it during my review of their work). Later we discovered they had done this thing when we found buldges in our hall carpet! After some calls between us, Kerns, and the installers (not happy that I even had to deal with the installers) they came back and tried to stretch it again and tried to fix the hallway. They failed in both tasks--as they said, it had been stretched to its limits already. Kerns has some sort of 100% guaranteee, but they haven't called me back to see if I was happy with the second attempt. Carpets come from the mill in 12 and 15 foot rolls. Ultimately Kerns was at fault for using a too-short measurement and hoping/assuming the carpet would stretch. By not having to get the carpet cut, they saved themselves money and increased profit. Penny-wise, pound-foolish, as their low quality work will cost them $5000 in sales this year as I recarpet the rest of the house with another dealer.
